
NINA news agency, 13 Jan 2013 – Thousands of Iraqi women from the town of Addur east of Tikrit staged a protest rally today in support of the demonstrators’ demands and in opposition to security forces’ measures regarding female prisoners.
“These women have staged a protest gathering in solidarity with the protesters and demonstrators demanding people’s violated rights by the central government,” one organizer said.
“Protesters called on the Iraqi judiciary to end cruelty against innocent women and punish those who have raped female prisoners,” this source added.
“The protesting women called on all Iraqi women to follow their lead by staging sit-ins demanding their violated rights and condemning any aggressions against them,” the source continued.
