Iraqiya Coalition leader Ayad Allawi emphasized one of Washington’s biggest mistakes was surrendering Iraq to Iran, describing Tehran as having the highest influence in Iraq.
Tehran positioned as a barrier before Iraq’s political trend and acted against the trend of transfer and democracy, Allawi said in an interview with Al-Taqeer TV.
“I even remember saying I will not introduce a cabinet and someone else from the Iraqiya Coalition can present the names. They said in response, no, all of Iraqiya is our red line. I clearly remember the mistakes US made in Iraq, making it bait for other countries in the region, with Iran topping them all and Tehran was able to gain influence over many parts of the Iraqi political spectrum,” he added.
“Maliki is responsible for going it alone on decision makings and repressive and threatening measures, which have brought this country to the very dangerous conditions it is currently in,” Allawi added while describing Maliki as a dictator.
