Allawi: UN and Arab League should intervene to solve Iran’s meddling in Iraq

In an interview with Ashrqiya TV, Dr. Ayad Allawi, former Iraqi Prime Minister, emphasized on the necessity of taking measures by the UN, Arab League and other international bodies to end the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq.

Dr. Allawi said: Unfortunately weakening of Iraq during the war and outbreak of political, security and administrative vacuum in Iraq prompted some countries in the region to meddle in Iraq’s internal affairs. Unfortunately in such a condition, Iraq was turned to an arena of retaliation between the Iranian regime and the U.S.; this is what many Iraqi officials have acknowledged.

We believe this issue could be solved through a clear strategic view that solves the issues under the supervision of the United Nations and with the presence of Arab League, Organization of Islamic Conference and Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC) and the countries neighboring Iraq.
