The freedom-loving Iranians staged a demonstration at the historical Square of St. Giovanni in Rome and expressed their anger and protest against presence of Ahmadinejad in Italy.
During this demonstration in which Italian citizens also participated, an exhibition about social suppression and atrocities during Ahmadinejad’s presidency was set up. The participants chanted “Expel this war criminal Ahmadinejad from Italy!”
Antonio Stango, Secretary General of the Helsinki Society in Italy and an official in Radical Party, Abolqasem Rezaii, the NCRI representative in Italy and Reza Olia, painter and statuary and member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran(NCRI) delivered their speeches.
Abolqasem Rezaii, NCRI representative in Italy, said: We, as representatives of the Iranian Resistance, on behalf of millions of Iranians being under mullahs’ oppression express our disgust of the presence of Ahmadinejad and admitting him to the EU countries, and ask for trial of this criminal terrorist; we are the outcry of students, teachers, workers and all sectors of Iranian people. Nevertheless the Italian people gave a suitable response to this wild dictator by showing their disgust against him.
Antonio Stango, Secretary General of the Helsinki Society in Italy, expressed his happiness of the public reaction of the Italian people regarding Ahmadinejad’s trip and the wave of protests throughout Italy within past two weeks against his trip and said: It is my pleasure and honor to speak among you and in solidarity with you and your resistance and humanitarian objectives of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, and in opposition to admitting Ahmadinejad to Italy. As I said in the press conference, as an Italian, I am ashamed of such a measure; today in protest against Ahmadinejad’s trip, majority of Italian parliamentarians and political personalities have announced their solidarity with the great demonstration.
Mr. Reza Olia, painter and statuary and member of the National Council of Resistance, said: Ahmadinejad has a black record; since his youth, he has been known as a torturer and terrorist in any position he has been.
At the end, the final resolution of the demonstration was read by representatives of the Iranian community in Italy and the families of martyrs and the PMOI residing in Ashraf City.
