Iraq: wave of statements condemning Liberty missile attack

Following widespread protests by tribal entities, human rights associations and the Iraqi people in general regarding the terrorist missile attack against Camp Liberty, the Northern Iraq Jurists Association, Salahaddin Bar Association, Iraqi Tribal Sheikhs Council and Salahaddin Tribal Sheikhs Council all issued separate statements expressing their abhorrence and condemning this crime, and again stating their support for Liberty and Ashraf residents.

The statement of the Northern Iraq Jurists Association reads in part: “We lawyers and jurists of Iraq strongly condemn the vicious missile attack against Liberty and demand legal action against the perpetrators and an immediate investigation by impartial international organizations.”

The statement of the Salahaddin Bar Association reads in part: “This attack is nothing but treason against human rights and none other than the coward Iranian regime and its mercenaries in Iraq are behind this crime. We strongly condemn this attack and call on the United Nations to transfer the residents to Ashraf and establish an urgent committee to investigate on this crime.”

The statement of the Iraqi Tribal Sheikhs Council reads in part: “In the name of the Iraqi Tribal Sheikhs Council we condemn this criminal act and we approve the call by Iranian Resistance President-elect Maryam Rajavi for the UN to dispatch a commission to find the truth on this massacre.”

The statement of the Salahaddin Tribal Sheikhs Council reads in part: “This coward attack is a flagrant violation of human rights and sends a clear message of the influence of the Iranian regime and its elements in the Iraqi government who are behind this attack. We call on the UN to investigate on this terrorist attack and the US to provide protection for the transfer of the camp residents.”
