Independent Iraqi Jurists condemned Missile attack on Ashraf, calling it a sign of mullahs’regime’s weakness and exhaustion

Association of Independent Iraqi Jurists, in a statement, called the missile attack on Ashraf City by the clerical regime a flagrant aggression against national sovereignty of Iraq which expresses utmost of this regime’s weakness and exhaustion before its growing democratic opposition.

The statement reads:
On Monday evening, the city of Ashraf in Diyala province that is the home to the PMOI in Iraq was attacked with missiles by the Iranian regime. This aggressive measure was carried out against the people who are all “protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Conventions”. This military attack is the violation of international law and Geneva Conventions and is considered a flagrant war crime, and those involved in it must go under international prosecution. Association of Independent Iraqi Jurists strongly condemns this coward action and expresses its disgust.

We the patriotic Iraqi jurists consider this measure by the mullahs’ regime a flagrant aggression against national sovereignty of our country and evaluate it as an attempt by the Iranian regime to foment instability and insecurity in Iraq.

To our belief, this criminal act shows nothing other than the utmost of this regime’s weakness and exhaustion before its growing democratic opposition, and shows its fear of the PMOI that is obtaining more creditable position as the alternative to the regime in regional and international equations, especially that the recent ruling by the UK court of appeal ordered for decisive removal of this organization from the terrorist list.

Hence, the Iranian regime, which is internationally hated and condemned for its efforts for acquiring nuclear bomb and considers the PMOI’s revelations the key factor in its international isolation, found no choice other than resorting to this military attack against the city of Ashraf. This is in fact an acknowledgement to the growing role of its alternative.

Considering the fact that such criminal acts are carried out under the direct conduct and command of the Iranian embassy in Baghdad, and the experience over recent years has proved that this embassy works as a coordinating center for terrorist operations in Iraq, Association of Independent Iraqi Jurists insistently requests for the closure of this terrorist center and expulsion of its ambassador, who is a known commander or the Quds Force according to disclosed intelligence by the commander of MNF-I, and putting an end on the violation of Iraq’s sovereignty and the threats against the lives of citizens and refugees by this regime.
