Saleh Mutlaq: Missile attack on Ashraf, Iran’s flagrant meddling in Iraqi affairs

Dr. Saleh Mutlaq, leader of the Iraqi Front for National Dialogue, in a statement, condemned the missile attack of the clerical regime on Ashraf City and asked the UN Security Council to take decisive measures in order to cut the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq.

This statement reads: On Monday evening May 26th, the city of Ashraf, north of Khalis, the home to the PMOI, was attacked with Iran made Grad missiles by the Iranian regime’s agents. This military act of the Iranian regime against its opposition in Iraq, who are protected persons under the Fourth Geneva Convention protected by the MNF-I, is a flagrant intervention in Iraq’s internal affairs and an attempt to make the situation in Iraq insecure.

This is at a time that the PMOI members residing in Ashraf have not have any arms since five years ago and have done no military operation either, and the creditable international courts have ruled to the removal of terrorist label from this organization.

This action by the Iranian regime is coincident with the intensified meddling of this regime in our country and the continued flow of weapons, explosives, and trained terrorists.

The Iraqi Front For National Dialogue condemns this aggressive measure which is the violation of national sovereignty and violation of international law, and asks the UN Security Council and the MNF-I and the Iraqi government to take decisive measures to cut the meddling of Iranian regime’s embassy in Baghdad.
