RWB: Iran, biggest reporters’ jail in ME and third biggest in world

In its annual report, The Reporters Without Borders (RWB) regarded the Iranian regime in the rank of prime violators of freedom of the press. Based on this organization’s report, the Iranian regime under the mullahs’ rule is in the rank of 166th from the press freedom’s point of view.

In an interview with German Deutsche Welle radio, the Iran’s section spokesman of the RWB said: With 54 arrests and imprisonments, the Iranian regime has been the third big prison of reporters in the world and particularly the biggest reporters’ prison in the Middle East.

On the issue of censorship and suppression of reporters, the al-Arabiya TV also reported: “Since 2000, the Iranian regime has closed 10,000,000 internet websites and more than 100 newspapers; this is at a condition that Ahmadinejad speaks of freedom of media.”
