Price of stationary items soars as schools terms begin: Iran

On the verge of another school term, the rise in stationary item prices puts more pressure on families. “Many stores, taking into mind the swing in dollar prices, business problems and sanctions, have raised the price of many of their items”, the state-run Mehr News Agency wrote about the rise in stationary prices in the city of Hamedan.
According to this report, a citizen of Hamedan said: “In the current year, my child has to spend 110 thousand Tomans, while last year the expense of stationary items for my child was less than 60 thousand Tomans”.
“The rise in paper subsidy prices is the reason behind this”, said a stationary store owner, while pointing out the role of the Iranian regime in the hype in prices. The government feels no responsibility towards students supplying their stationary needs, therefore demands exceed supplies and prices rise.
