The remarks of a Revolutionary Guards commander arguing the mullahs’ interpreter made a ‘simple’ mistake in translating just one word of Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi’s speech in the recent NAM summit in Tehran was so absurd it raised criticism even from inside the Iranian regime.
“The story wasn’t just about one word. All of Morsi’s speech on Syria was distorted and censored, and they changed the whole meaning of his speech in a manner that Morsi’ anti-Syria speech was translated in a way as if he actually supported Assad!” one state-run media outlet said in response to the IRGC commander’s remarks.
“For just one example, we will publish a portion of the global embarrassment this issue has brought for our news and radio network, so those in charge will to come to understand what negative impacts they are having while they claim they are defending the system,” this media outlet continued referring to the mullahs’ all-out humiliation amongst leading international media.
