Yemen – Ta’izz: Springboard to Sana’a

The liberation of Ta’izz Province in Yemen means popular resistance forces will be heading to the occupied capital, Sana’a, Sky News TV reported on Thursday, August 20th.
Popular resistance forces in Yemen said 85 Houthi militants and troops loyal to ousted dictator Ali Abdullah Salah have been killed in recent battles across Tai’zz, with 28 others being taken as prisoners.
This is the fifth province that is being liberated by popular resistance forces during Operation Golden Arrow led by the Arab coalition.
Two elements have been very significant in the retreat of Houthi militants from Ta’izz and also the oil-rich Shabwah Province to the east.
First, the militants are seen fleeing under fire from popular resistance forces using various weapons and mortar rounds.
Second, Houthis surrendered the capital of Shabwah Province to popular resistance forces on the condition of sparing their lives. Now more focus is put on Ta’izz, being the last passage towards Sana’a. Currently more than 90% of the city of Ta’izz has been liberated by popular resistance forces and troops loyal to the legitimate Yemeni government.
