Advances made by the Fatah Army and major blows to Bashar Assad’s forces in Syria have caused major rifts in their ranks and files.
The Syrian opposition said citing Assad regime news networks that two members of Assad’s militants in the town of Safsafe near Tartus were killed in clashes with Assad’s security forces, Orient TV reported. These clashes followed protests by the militants after suffering serious casualties in recent battles with armed Syrian opposition forces.
Recently there have been serious rifts and divides reported between pro-Assad sheikhs and an Assad general by the name of Soheil Hassan. These scenes resemble the crisis Assad is facing in towns and villages in the coastal area controlled by his forces. These men used to support Assad’s regime and now they are separating and distancing themselves from their past.
Tartus Province used to be an Assad stronghold to recruit new troops for the war against the Syrian people. This rifts began when a member of Assad’s family murdered an army officer.
