Yemen fighters have reached the closest positions to the Anad airbase and following heavy airstrikes they have currently placed this base under siege, Al Arabiya TV reported citing popular forces on Tuesday. Resistance forces have targeted Houthi insurgents in this base with 122mm Katiusha rockets and anti-armor missiles, destroying many defensive positions.
Resistance forces’ spokesman said units of the National Army, reinforced by resistance fighters, are ready to advance and infiltrate the base from a cement factory. A widespread military operation is being prepared aimed at taking over the base with air coverage provided by the Saudi-led coalition.
Yemen National Army chief of staff said new units have been transferred from the first military are to the frontlines in Ta’ez and Lahij, while six National Army battalions are also being dispatched to the Lahij, Ta’ez and Zale’ areas to provide support for the resistance forces.
