
US secretaries of State, Energy and Treasury appeared to testify at a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing on Tuesday where Congressmen warned of Iran’s deception and terrorist measures. They also emphasized this regime supports repressive measures, terrorism and the Assad regime in Syria, and cracks down on democratic and freedom-loving forces, such as the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran.
Various House members stressed the sole solution is regime change in Iran, going on to criticize the Obama administration’s negotiations with oppressors in Iran. These members underscored Iranian regime president Hassan Rouhani and foreign minister Javad Zarif are no different than other senior regime officials in the repression and violation of the Iranian people’s rights.
Committee Chair Ed Royce opposed lifting sanctions and restrictions imposed on the Iranian regime and went on to warn that Iran will use its access to the unfrozen assets for its meddling in the region.
US Secretary of Treasury Jack Lew emphasized Qassem Suleimani and other senior Revolutionary Guards commanders will remain on the sanctions list due to their support for terrorism.
