The Iraqi Women Union said Iraqi women, making up 40% of the demonstrators, have played a major role in recent rallies across this country.
“Unprecedented scenes seen in peaceful demonstrations and nationwide protests in Baghdad and many other provinces in Iraq during the past month include the major and very dignified role of Iraqi women demanding reforms and corrupt individuals being held accountable,” Sahat al-Tahrir news website reported.
“Iraqi women are making their voices heard more than ever before. This time, with a much more powerful presence than previous demonstrations, Iraqi women are seen holding Iraqi flags, raising placards and calling for change.”
