United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon held talks with Maliki’s government emphasizing the necessity to inspect Iranian regime planes and impose a weapons embargo against the Syrian government.
In a press conference in Baghdad on Thursday, the UN chief reiterated he has asked Iraqi officials to do anything necessary for these inspections.
“I asked the Iraqi government to remain obligated to inspecting planes passing through their airspace to Syria,” he said.
The UN chief also called on Iraq to open its borders to Syrian refugees.
