The Ukrainian Parliament approved autonomy for two eastern regions of this country, and at the same time approved an agreement of cooperation with the European Union.
The three-year autonomy plan for the two regions of Donetsk and Luhansk is based on a ceasefire plan previously approved by the two parties. On the other hand, a commercial agreement between Ukraine and the European Parliament was approved by both parliaments at the same time on Tuesday.
Viktor Yanukovych’s refusal to sign this agreement sparked the uprisings in Ukraine two years ago that led to his overthrow.
