Associated Press reported that companies that violate prohibitions on business with countries such as Iran and Sudan will face increased penalties under legislation passed by Congress Tuesday and sent to the president for his signature.
Criminal penalties for willful violations of sanctions could be as much as $1 million (€710,000) with jail terms up to 20 years.
