Turkey to join US missile defense shield to confront Iran’s missile threat

The Turkish officials announced that after recent NATO leaders’ session in Bucharest, the government of Turkey had agreed with the US request for deployment of missile shield in Turkey.

The decision was taken in a session with presence of President Abdullah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Yashar Buyuck, army’s chief of staff, Vecdi Gonul , Defense Minister and Ali Babajan, Foreign Minister. In this session all the leaders and political officials and military commanders of Turkey agreed on deployment of the US missile defense system in their soil; hence, Turkey will become part of the US missile defense shield in Eastern Europe and under the support of NATO in order to confront the Iranian regime’s missile threats.
