AFP, Nicosia, 30 Jan 2012 – The head of the Syrian National Council said on Monday that the opposition rejects all talks with the Damascus regime until President Bashar al-Assad steps down.
‘The resignation of Assad is the condition for any negotiation on the transition to a democratic government in Syria,’ Ghalioun told AFP.
Moscow said on Monday that Syrian authorities had agreed to a Russian offer to host informal talks with opposition representatives.
