Syrian rebels have launched Operation Southern Storm aimed at taking over Deraa. They have recently seized Fort Sorur located north of the town of Atman. This is one of the most important military bases formerly belonging to Assad’s military forces protecting one of the entrances into Deraa.
The rebels have also taken over areas north of Deraa.
Prior to this the rebels in other areas of Deraa Province were able to seize areas including the city of Bosr al-Sham, the Nassib border crossing and Fort 52 as the second largest and most important brigade of Assad’s army in Syria.
