The Pentagon confirmed the killing of Ahmed Abdi Qudane, head of the fundamentalist al-Shabab group in Somalia. Also known as Mokhtar Abu Zabir, he was killed in an airstrike by US Special Forces in Somalia, Pentagon officials added.
In 2013 he masterminded an al-Shabab attack on a Nairobi trade center leaving 67 people dead.
