Sky News reported on Friday, August 28th from Baghdad’s Tahrir Square:
Thousands of Iraqis in Baghdad’s Tahrir Square rallied against corruption on Friday, August 28th. The demonstrators were waving flags of Iraq and condemning corruption and the poor conditions of public services.
Security forces had stationed in large numbers around Tahrir Square and adjacent areas to prevent any kind of attacks. These rallies were not only in Baghdad but all cities across Iraq.
Muqtada Sadr had called on his supporters to take part in the demonstrations. Other political and civil movements also invited their supporters to join the rallies.
The rally organizers said their demonstrations are focused against corruption and in support of Iraqi Prime Minister Dr. Haider al-Abadi to carry out further reforms.
