AP cited US officials saying General John Allen, a former US marines general, will be coordinating the widespread international efforts in the fight against ISIL. Nearly 40 countries from across the globe have agreed to join this fight.
AP added General John Allen has many skills in coordinating international allies in battlefields. He has served as the deputy commander in Iraq’s Anbar Province from 2006 to 2008, and he has worked with Arab partners in organizing the Sunni uprising against al-Qaeda. He was also the senior US commander in Afghanistan from 2011 to 2013 and he has experience working with international allies.
