Senior Iraqi MP rejects Maliki’s claim of protesters attacking security forces

Salman al-Jumaili, Iraqiya Parliamentary Faction leader and member of the Parliament’s investigating committee dispatched to Fallujah, rejected Maliki’s remarks on demonstrators attacking security forces.
“Senior security force commanders have admitted Army and government security forces attacked the demonstrators,” al- Jumaili said.
“The second subject is that none of the government security forces or Army personnel were neither killed before or during the demonstrations. The two individuals that Maliki referred to were killed two hours after the demonstration and in an area very far away from the site of Friday’s protest,” he added.
“Therefore, we have gathered preliminary information indicating the attack was carried out by the Army against the demonstrators. We condemn this attack and we are waiting for investigative measures leading to the apprehension of those elements involved,” al- Jumaili finalized.
