
The Russian Kommersant daily cited its sources in the Russian military command writing Moscow transferred its warplanes to Syria using the airspaces of Azerbaijan, Iran and Iraq.
Russia has established a complete air group consisting of Sukhoi-24M bombers, Sukhoi-34, Sukhoi-25SM, and multirole Sukhoi-30SM warplanes, along with Mi-24 attack helicopters, multirole Mi-8 military helicopters at the Hamimim military airport located near Syria’s Port Latakia.
Various Russian planes, including six Sukhoi-34s arrived at Syria without passing over Azerbaijan and by taking a route over the Caspian Sea, Iran and Iraq.
Russian warplanes conducted their first bombing raids in Syria on Wednesday, September 30th. These raids never targeted ISIS, and they only went after Syrian opposition positions.
