
The residents of Baghdad’s Chakuk district staged a demonstration protesting deteriorating service conditions and inaction by Maliki’s government. Carrying posters, the protesters demanded the government to look into their problems, Baghdad TV reported on Monday.
One thousand families living in Baghdad’s Mahdia district protested orders issued by the government to evacuate their homes, requesting assistance from the Ziqar provincial council.
“We are also Iraqi citizens, do we not have any rights? Where are we to go? Is this the government’s behavior towards us?” one protester asked.
