Azzaman International Daily, Taverny, north of Paris, June 28, 2010 – Thousands of supporters of the Tehran regime’s opposition turned out for the gathering promoted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and called for “a real democratic change in Iran”.
Dozens of MPs from all over Europe and also former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton and former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar attended this rally on Saturday. The key point of this rally was the supportive speeches delivered by Bolton and Aznar.
Maryam Rajavi, leader of NCRI, with the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran as its main members stated, “No to the mullahs’ fascism, no to stoning and executions and amputations, no to mandatory veiling for women, no to mandatory religion and no to this regime.”
She went on to say, “Khamenei’s orders led to the purge of Saleh Mutlaq from the elections by the ‘de-Bathification Commission’ in Iraq. This occurred after he joined the Iraqiya slate under the leadership of Ayad Allawi, which took the greatest number of seats in the March 7th polls.”
Rajavi went on to chant long live Iraq’s national hero Saleh Mutlaq. Rajavi, wearing a beautiful blue-green outfit and her usual scarf, said: “Sanctions are necessary yet inadequate. The Iranian people want this regime to go! And its leaders prosecuted in international tribunals.”
