US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter on Friday in a press conference in London revealed changes in the Syrian rebels training program.
This program is a more strategic approach compared to the policy existing to this day of supporting anti-Assad groups, Carter said.
In the meantime, Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook told international news agencies that under orders from the Defense Secretary from this day forward weapons and equipment will be provided to credible commanders and units in Syria, in order to seize areas controlled by ISIS. He also said there will be air support for anti-Assad armed opposition groups in the war against ISIS.
