
NATO in its session in Wales decided to form a rapid deployment force dubbed ‘Spearhead’. According to NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen this force will be very capable in dispatching forces to operational theaters in the shortest time possible, adding this entity consists of thousands of ground forces that will be supported by air, sea and special ops units.
Rasmussen went on to say to coordinate the activities of this force its command center will be based in a NATO-member country in Eastern Europe, and the formation of this force is a clear response to aggressors.
ISIS in in Syria and Iraq must be seen as one entity resulting from the Syria crisis, he continued, adding there is a strong political will to stop and defeat ISIS. This terrorist organization is a threat for the entire globe, he said.
On Friday night US President Barack Obama said $1bn has been spent for the establishment of this force.
