Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government President Massud Barzani issued a statement on the situation in Iraq saying from long ago he had warned the conditions in Iraq is due to the wrong policies and single-minded measures of those consolidating power in Baghdad, leading the state to the edge and today they are now responsible for the status quo.
“We have tried hard to resolve the problem and presented many suggestions,” he said. “The behavior seen by officials was either against it or at the best situation they neglected our suggestions. From 2003 onwards we in Kurdistan stood against sectarian and religious warfare. We did not become a negative element in this face-off, and in fact we played a helpful role as much as we could…”
“We ensure our Shiite brothers, those who have brought on this situation, they want to cover up their failure by insulting others, and they have been covering up the truth from the people… now a new situation has come about and a rooted-solution must be found for the disputes, a solution that must take into consideration the new developments, changing the current political scene,” Barzani continued.
