Al- Sharqiya TV aired a report saying Iraq under the rule of Nouri Malik ranks as one of the most corrupted countries in the world.
In a 380 page report, the Brussels-based International Crises Group announced widespread corruption is visible throughout Iraq’s government. The current corruption in the Iraqi governmental organs threatens the establishment of stability in this country. The supervisions institutions that were established under the law in 2005 to supervise the government’s affairs are now paralyzed due to intervention by Maliki’s government.
The International Crises Group report described the embezzlement of billions of dollars from Iraq’s treasury as disgraceful. By the same token, ruling parties consider the ministries as theirs special bank accounts. Nepotism, inducement and embezzlement are so widespread in Iraq that they result in negative consequences on citizens’ livelihood. This international group emphasized on the necessity of fighting against corruption and the amendment of laws in Iraq.
