Kurdish coalition calls on Maliki to appear in Parliament, explain lack of projects progress

Al-Babeliya TV, 17 Oct 2012 – Kurdish coalition called on Prime Minister Nouri Maliki to appear before the parliament and explain the reason behind lack of progress in the various projects. In a press conference held in the Parliament building, Fian Dakhil, Chair of the Parliament’s Commission on Services and Development stressed on the necessity of questioning the prime minister on the fate of billions of dollars used for projects that have not been carried out.
Fian Dakhil, Chair of the Parliament’s Commission on Services and Development: “We will place a request for the prime minister to participate in the Parliament session, for him to make it clear for us and the Iraqi people why service projects have remained at halt throughout the year? Why is this violation taking place in providing services in all fields of service throughout the Iraq? There is no electricity, no water, no roads, no housing, no hygiene and no ration cards. Unemployment is also very high. There must be a fundamental reason for this lack of progress. We will question the prime minister on this basis that he is the head of the Council of Ministers, in charge of these ministries and how this money is spent. Every year we witness half of the year’s budget returns back into the government’s treasury. Where have these assets gone? Where has this year’s budget, being117 trillion (Iraqi dinars), gone while in the scene there is nothing visible in services? Therefore, before any other steps are taken, we must head towards questioning the officials to find out the reason behind the lack of progress.”
