Dr. Mohammad al-Sheikhli, Director of the London-based National Center for Justice said UNAMI chief Martin Kobler has remained silent on the murder and torture taking place in Iraqi prisons.
On the murder of Alawan Hossein al-Zuba’i under torture in Maliki’s prisons, he said, “Iraq’s prisons are like black holes. Those who enter will no doubt disappear. Arbitrary arrests and torture of prisoners have become a policy of Maliki’s government. Unfortunately, UNAMI has remained silent regarding Maliki’s inhumane crimes against Iraq’s youths and detainees.”
