
U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Zalmay Khalilzad accused Iran of talking stability but fomenting unrest in the Middle East and rejected Tehran’s call for a delay in any new U.N. sanctions to punish it for defying Security Council demands to freeze uranium enrichment.
Khalilzad said that no matter what the probe concludes, Iran would face continued Security Council pressure unless it mothballs its enrichment program – which can create both nuclear fuel and the fissile material for nuclear warheads – and meets related demands.
