The Jordanian daily Al-Arab al-Yawm wrote an article in its Saturday issue entitled: Tantawi announced aggression against the PMOI is unlawful”. This article partly reads: Dr. Muhammad al-Sayyed Tantawi, Al-Azhar University Grand Sheikh warned on endangering the life of individuals of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI).

In a meeting with Sarmad Abdulkarim, director of the Iraqi News Agency in Cairo, Tantawi said: The respect for protected persons should be observed everywhere and they should not be aggressed by any means; because the respect for protected persons as human beings is a gift bestowed by holy religions, humanitarian morals and enacted laws.
