Bashar Assad is a key part of the massive migration crisis engulfing all of Europe, said US Secretary of State John Kerry in an interview on Friday. America’s top diplomat went on to describe Assad as the element behind the presence of foreign insurgents in Syria because Assad attacks his own people with chemical weapons, tortures them and has dropped barrel bombs on them.
As long as Assad is playing such a role the Syria crisis will never end, he added. Everyone has reached a conclusion that actions are needed fast because there is a serious humanitarian crisis on the table, Kerry said.
