-Ayad Allawi (Iraqiya leader), Ossama al-Nujaifi (Parliament Speaker) and Saleh Mutlak (Deputy Prime Minister) met with head of the Kurdistan Autonomous Government Massoud Barizani in Erbil. According to a report by al-Horra TV, this meeting was held within the context of the Iraqiya and the Kurdistan Coalition’s attempts to interpolate Nouri al-Maliki in Parliament and to set preparations for a no confidence vote.
-The Kurdistan Coalition announced that the Sadr movement has promised the Kurdistan Coalition that it will stand along them in the no confidence vote.
-In this regard, the Baghdad Daily wrote quoting Iraqiya Spokesperson Mrs. Damalougi: “We will continue preparations for the interpolation case… the National Coalition has prepared a substitute for Nouri al-Maliki for the Premiership post”.
The Iraqiya Coalition led by Dr. Ayad Allawi emphasized that all political factions in this slate insist on the leadership of Ayad Allawi and all rumors and claims in this regard are untrue, the Baghdad Daily wrote.
-The al-Sharqiya TV network reported: Iraqiya announced in a statement that “We condemn the Iranian regime’s plots against Ayad Allawi and its intelligence agency’s attempts to undermine Allawi’s leadership over the Iraqiya Coalition.
-“A host of solutions within the context of the Constitution were raised in this meeting which relate to resolving the turmoil the political trend faces”, said Foad Hussein, Chief of Kurdistan’s Presidency Bureau, with respect to the Erbil meeting. “This meeting specified a number of recommendations to be passed on to Muqtada al-Sadr, leader of the Sadr Movement, so that unified decisions can be adopted.”
-The al-Rafidain TV Channel quoted a source saying that Iraqiya leader Ayad Allawi will carry out the interpolation of Nouri al-Maliki in Parliament. This source also stated that the legal committee that was formed to determine the interpolation mechanisms and questions which are to be asked will soon finish its work. Factions that had agreed to vote a no confidence to Maliki were Iraqiya, Kurdistan Coalition and the Sadr Movement, al- Rafidain added. They were unable to gather enough votes for a no confidence and so were forced to turn to his interpolation in the Parliament.
