INTV– Oday al-Zeidi, head of the Popular Movement for Iraq Freedom, accused Maliki of kowtowing to Iran.
“On the assassinations of tribal sheikhs, there are two groups of people in Iraq. One group of are those who denounce Iran’s meddling in Iraq, who are assassinated, and I top of their list. Under Maliki’s government anyone who opposes Iran’s meddling and says they will not allow Iran interfere in Iraq, will end up murdered. The second group of people are those who oppose the Dawa Party and Nouri Maliki… the only ‘sin’ of these sheikhs was that they did not want Iraq’s southern Arab regions turn into a south linked to Iran, and this is the main problem because Iran wants to turn Iraq’s south into its own backyard. All SWAT forces are missioned in this regard and ordered to advance this policy of Nouri Maliki. Anyone who does not defend Iran and is against its supreme leader will be targeted,” he said.
