In an interview with Asharqiya TV, Thamir al-Tamimi, General Advisor of the Iraqi Awakening Councils, warned on the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq and said: Iranian regime’s interest lies in an insecure and unstable Iraq
Tamimi said: The Iranian regime regards Iraq one of its provinces, not an independent country with its sovereignty. The Iranian ambassador makes remarks; then Larijani calls on the Iraqi people to demonstrate against the security agreement (with US). In fact, these are regrettable issues that indicate the Iranian regime doesn’t intend to have a good neighborliness with Iraq.
Thamir al-Tamimi said: Iran seeks two goals in Iraq’s instability: keeping the US involved, and weakening the Iraqi government. Unfortunately, millions of Iraqis, either Shiite or Sunnis, should pay the price of Iranian regime’s objectives.
