Iraqi Army Lt General Hessam Adin al-Dulaimi joins tribal forces

Former Iraqi Army Lieutenant General Hessam Adin al-Dulaimi, a current commander in the Iraq Al Anbar Province Revolutionary Military Council, said in an interview with Al Jazeera TV: “We will stand in the face of Maliki”.

Al Jazeera TV: Mr. Dulaimi, how do you see the situation in Al Anbar?
Lt Gen Hessam Adin al-Dulaimi: We call on the media to come to the scene and see what has become of the Maliki army and his traitorous mercenaries. He has resorted to pulling his forces out of the city of Ramadi. This is the condition of his military forces, yet his advisors, those who steal the people’s food… claim that there is little resistance. Yet they must know that the tribal revolutionaries are steadfast and faithful in their just revolution.
Al Jazeera TV: What is the goal of the revolutionary tribes and what do they want?
Lt Gen Hessam Adin al-Dulaimi: They demand their rights for which they spent one whole year in a sit-in, yet the criminal of Baghdad’s Green Zone said that they are notorious and un-Iraqi and they have no right to live, and on 30 December 2013 attacked the protest camp from three fronts.
Al Jazeera TV: Yet Mr. Dulaimi, when you weren’t able to reach your rights through a peaceful sit-in, how is it possible to reach them through the force of a gun?
Lt Gen Hessam Adin al-Dulaimi: We didn’t turn to guns unless Maliki launched an attack against the peaceful protesters. The peaceful protesters didn’t have guns in their minds, yet they came with Abram tanks and armored personnel carriers, they came with helicopters and SWAT militias and with Army divisions armed to their teeth and with Special Forces that were brought in from southern provinces. They attacked the protest camp in the city of Ramadi from three fronts. In such circumstances, we were forced to take up arms.
