Iraqi-American NGO calls on UN to replace Kobler

On behalf of victims of torture and human rights violations in Iraq, the Iraqi-American Organization in Defense of Human Rights called on the United Nations to replace Martin Kobler.
In a call to the UN Secretary-General, this NGO said Kobler’s shocking remarks in support of Maliki and silence on the arrest, torture and execution of Iraqis shows he has become an Iraqi government employee. Instead of defending the Iraqi people’s human rights, he is busy supporting the Iraqi government, the NGO continued.
Immediately after Kobler’s remarks, many people tortured in Iraqi government prisons, the families of those illegally executed and those having relatives in prison contacted our organization and requested to file a complaint against Kobler, the NGO said.
This NGO called on the UN Secretary-General and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to replace Martin Kobler arguing he is not impartial, and overtly supports the Iraqi government and covers its crimes.
The Iraqi people consider Kobler as an employee of the Iraqi government, the NGO added.
