In an interview with Al Sumaria News, Basra Teachers Club President Jawad al-Mariush said, “Hundreds of teachers staged a demonstration demanding residential areas be specifically designated for them, reforms in the education system and laws to be approved to protect teachers.”
Al-Mariush added, “The demonstrators also raised public requests that are in the interests of all the people of Basra, the most important being increased authority for the local government, the province to be transformed into an economic capital and accelerating the trend of approving the law of infrastructures.”
