Iraq: rallies continuing against corruption

Al-Mada news agency and al-Tagheer TV in Iraq reported on the Friday demonstrations in the cities of Baghdad, Diywaniya, Basra and Ziqar where protesters were demanding serious reforms and the prosecution of corrupt figures. The demonstrators said they support the demonstration activists.
These rallies were held despite the fact that the day earlier it was announced no rallies would be held due to the Eid al-Adha holidays.
The people of Diywaniya rallied and warned of “massive popular revolution” if their demands are not met. These protesters also held placards reading, “Reforms without judiciary reforms are pointless.”
Demonstrators in Ziqar called on the central government to release arrested demonstration activists detained by security forces or armed militias.
Protesters in Nosseriya expressed their solidarity with all the arrested and abducted activists, and also demanded reforms and the prosecution of corrupt figures, Al Tagheer TV reported.
In Basra demonstrators demanded responses to the protesters’ demands and release of social Jalal Shahmani, who was abducted in Baghdad.
