Iraq: demonstrations continuing in Basra, protesters threaten unlimited sit-in

Hundreds of workers of the South Oil Company in Basra staged demonstrations and called on their government to unveil corruption in the oil sector, Al Jazeera TV reported on Friday, August 21st. The demonstrators also threatened to stage unlimited sit-ins if their demands are not met.
In the meantime, Qeis al-Khaz’ali, leader of the Asaeb al-Haq militant group accused the civilian current of insulting religion and said most of the individuals behind these demonstrations are in contact with regional and global intelligence services.
