The VOA news on Jan 15, reported that the US President George Bush during his trip to Saudi Arabia warned Iranian regime that in case of any further provocative action in the Persian Gulf, it would face serious consequences. He said it is not important for this time whether these operations and command for it comes from Iranian regime or the commander of boats. The important thing is if the Iranian boats attack our ships they will face serious consequences.
Bush said he has told the Saudi leaders despite the NIE US intelligence report, which said Iranian regime has stopped its nuclear weapon program in 2003, he looks at the Iranian regime as ‘a threat’.
Bush said he had told Saudi leaders that he still views Iran as “a threat” despite a US National Intelligence Estimate, released last month, that found that Tehran shelved its nuclear weapons program in 2003
AFP wrote that Bush appeared to distance himself from what he called an “independent” US intelligence finding widely seen as dousing the likelihood of armed confrontation with Iran.
He said: “I defended our intelligence services, but made it clear that they’re an independent agency; that they come to conclusions separate from what I may or may not want.”
About discussions with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia, Bush said: “I just made it clear that all options are on the table, but I’d like to solve this diplomatically — and think we can, and talked about making sure consistent messages emanated from all parts of the world to the Iranians.”
The National Security Advisor, Stephen Hadley, said Bush was concentrated on the issue of Iran at his every stop in the Middle East.
