Armed men belonging to the Iraqi Armed Tribes High Military Council engaged in fierce clashes against Maliki’s military forces in southeast of Fallujah all the way to the Abu Ghareib region near the Baghdad beltway, resulting in 35 Maliki troops being killed, Al Jazeera TV reported citing the high council.
Armed tribes have also taken control over a large number of checkpoints and Maliki’s military bases in the region. The armed tribes also destroyed six HUMVEEs and 1 armored personnel carrier, along with a number of military gears. Reports indicate the armed tribes have seized also many weapons, ammunition and military equipment in these bases.
