NINA News Agency, 1 Oct, 2012 – Iraqiya Spokesperson Heydar Molla called on the Iraqi Government to change its behavior towards the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) after the name of this organization was removed from the US terrorist list.
“From the very beginning we tried to remove the name of the PMOI from the terrorist list and we announced in Parliament at the start of the Arab Spring that this organization represents the goals and aspirations of the Iranian people for freedom and democracy and liberation from a military rule in Iran”, said Molla in a press statement.
“Delisting the PMOI from the terrorist list is a step in the right path. We do not want to intervene in the affair of others, since Iraq seeks the best relations with neighboring Arab and non-Arab countries that is based on respecting sovereignty. At the same time we denounce any intervention in our own domestic affairs and support the people’s demands for freedom and democracy”, Molla added.
“Another aspect of this issue is Iraq’s standpoint. The removal of the PMOI from the terrorist list calls on the Iraqi Government to change its behavior towards this organization, since the international community and the UN have made clear their position on this issue”, said Molla.
Heydar Molla called for a “humanitarian approach prior to any political approach” in dealing with this organization.
