Global reactions to Ahmadinejad’s atomic claim

On April 8, the governments of United States, United Kingdom and France strong reacted to Ahmadinejad’s announcement Tuesday, of installation of 6,000 new uranium-enriching centrifuges at Iran’s nuclear plant in Natanz, and to avoid further sanctions, called on Iran to end defying international communities’ demand.

US representative to the IAEA, Greg Schulte said that announcement of 6000 new centrifuges by Iran was clearly showing further breach of UN Security Council demands which consequently would lead to more Isolation of Iran. Ahmadinejad’s statement was against Iran’s international commitments.

French news agency (AFP) reported that the White House press secretary Dana Perino said “We do know that it does have an impact when we speak with one voice in the international community to put sanctions on a country like Iran.”
“What we have decided to do as a community, as an international community is continue to keep that pressure on,” she said.

AFP also reported on Tuesday French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said Tuesday the international community must consider “reinforced” sanctions against Iran if it does not respond to concerns about its nuclear programme. “I fear that we will have to continue on the road of sanctions if there is no response from the Iranians,” he told reporters.

The British Foreign Ministry also in an announcement said that Iranian regime is not taking the right step to gain international community’s trust by continuing this policy.
The announcement adds that Iran hasn’t stopped enrichment but has installed new centrifuges ignoring international communities’ demands.
