
The MNFI on April 7, in a press release announced – Coalition forces detained four suspected Iranian-backed Special Groups criminals and killed an individual who displayed hostile intent during an operation in Baghdad Monday.
Coalition forces targeted a key member of a logistics network allegedly working with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps – Quds Force to move explosively formed penetrators (EFPs) and other weapons into Iraq. The individual is also suspected of distributing weapons to Special Groups criminals in the Baghdad area.
Upon entering a targeted building, Coalition forces encountered an individual who displayed hostile intent by rushing at them. Acting in self-defense, Coalition forces engaged and killed the man. Coalition forces then secured the area and detained the four suspects without further incident.
MNF-I spokesman said: “Coalition forces will continue to seek out suspected criminals who threaten the peace and security of Iraqi citizens.”
